Apple AirPods Pro Drop to Lowest Price of the Year

Sarah Kim·July 15, 2026·3 min read

The AirPods Pro (2nd generation) are selling for $179 at Amazon and Best Buy this week. The list price is $249. That's a $70 cut, and it matches the lowest price we've tracked since the product launched.

Why this price matters

Apple rarely discounts its own products directly. Most of the savings on AirPods come from retailers, not Apple itself. When a major retailer drops the price this far below MSRP, it usually means they're clearing inventory ahead of a product refresh, or matching a competitor's sale.

Amazon has run this price twice before, both times for less than 72 hours. Best Buy matched it a day later and kept it up for about a week. If you've been waiting, this is a reasonable point to buy rather than hold out for a better number.

What you get at this price

  • Active noise cancellation that adjusts to your ear seal
  • Transparency mode for hearing your surroundings without removing them
  • USB-C charging case (the newer models replaced Lightning)
  • Roughly 6 hours of listening time per charge, up to 30 hours with the case

Things to check before you buy

Some listings on marketplaces are for the older Lightning-case version, which looks nearly identical in photos. Check the case has a USB-C port before ordering if you want the current model. Third-party sellers on Amazon sometimes list refurbished units at a similar price — read the condition notes carefully.

Where to buy

Amazon and Best Buy both had stock as of this morning. Target price-matches Best Buy on request at checkout or in-store. If the listing shows "currently unavailable," check back — this deal has been going in and out of stock as batches sell through.

This deal is worth acting on if you were already planning to buy a pair. It's not worth buying AirPods you don't need just because the price dropped.
